RC Paramotor VI

Frankenplane. It flies well. Until you don’t notice you’re out of battery and it’s being blown onto a hill by the wind. Yeah that was me today. I closed the throttle and watched it disappear into a hillside. One with trees. Many, many trees. And some more trees. Trees like the kind you stand next to the smallest ones of and they tower above you, so you can’t see anything.

Forest

I spent a couple of hours fighting my way up a reeeeeally steep hillside and went home as darkness fell, leaving poor Frankie somewhere all alone.

I must make a mental note to get a lost model alarm so I can hear where the wreckage is.

The next morning myself and the good lady of the house went on a hunting trip. Hunting for the lesser-spotted Frankenplane. More fighting through trees. Three hours later I gave up and started heading back to the car, leaving it as lost forever.

Then, as I was about to go down the final part of the hill I decided to just check down there where there was a tiny access track to an electricity pole. Well, bugger me if I didn’t catch the smallest bit of blue.

What do I see here

A particular shade of blue that looked just like Frankie’s foil. No, you can’t see it. I got Frankie and then though Hmm, I should have taken a photo of where it was. Oh well.

And there it was…

Found it

At home I tested it and as expected the battery was toast - with zero volts. At least I had a spare.
