The radio that came with the Bixler3 does the job ok, but it is an entry-level radio. You have to connect it to a computer to change any of the settings which can be a little annoying when you’re our flying. It also uses eight AA batteries which it tends to chew through pretty rapidly.
Since I can now just about do a few circuits without crashing all of the time, a new radio was in order. After researching and acknowledging that I’m not ready for anything requiring a tasty radio like a Taranis, I opted for the Hobbyking TGY-i6 radio.
which is a rebadged version of the Flysky FS-i6. Research shows that this is a nice radio which has a range of around 2km as standard. More than enough for me!
